IRON SIGHTS: COMBAT-PROVEN & EMP-PROOF
In a tech-driven gun culture, iron sights are often overlooked for red dots and prisms. But are optics truly superior, or just a shortcut? Drawing from my Marine Boot Camp days on the M16A2 irons to modern conflicts like Ukraine—where irons dominate due to supply gaps—this article challenges the hype. Only 5-8% of global militaries rely on battery optics, per NSSF estimates, highlighting irons' reliability in logistics-challenged zones. Plus, they're EMP-proof: No circuits mean no failure in electromagnetic events (RAND studies warn of grid vulnerabilities). Controversially, "bad eyes" excuses often mask lack of practice—many shooters excel on irons after proper training. Whether for concealed carry or SHTF, irons build skills gadgets can't replace. SELECTING A DEFENSIVE AMMUNITION
Selecting a defensive ammunition is all about making careful considerations about the type of threats you face, the type of performance you need, and what type of ammunition will deliver that performance based on caliber, barrel length, range, etc.
MOTOR OIL IN FIREARMS
Motor oil is not suitable for use in firearms because it lacks the appropriate viscosity, cleaning properties, and protective qualities needed to ensure reliable operation and prevent corrosion within a firearm’s barrel and moving parts, making it essential to use oils and lubricants designed explicitly for firearms maintenance.
SIG P320: A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE
Everyone seems to be criticizing the Sig P320 more and more these days. Many people have stopped placing blind trust in Sig Sauer and are openly acknowledging some serious and well-documented problems with the firearm. However, I want to take a moment to consider this issue from a different angle and explore aspects that might not be receiving as much attention.
THE P320 FIRES UN-COMMANDED
The Air Force had a recent fatal accident due to uncommanded discharges of the P320 and M17/M18 pistols. The FBI investigated the Sig 320 and M18 after 80+ accidental firing reports in civilian, police, and military use, declaring them unsafe for duty.
