Why the U.S. Military Needs to Learn from Partisans: Ditching Top-Down for Bottom-Up Survival

The U.S. military still fights like it’s 1944 — platoon assaults, buddy rushes, scripted top-down orders, and the comforting lie that rank and doctrine will save us. But $500 FPV drones don’t care about rank. They punish mass. They punish hesitation. They punish anyone who waits for permission.

Real partisan warfare — the kind practiced by Lurps and MACV-SOG — flipped the script: a private ran point because he was sharp, not because he had stripes. When compromised, they fought, hid, cached, and adapted — no manual, no safety net. Today, that same mindset is the only way to survive modern war.

We can keep pretending we’re the best military in the world, inflating body counts and clinging to WWII tactics. Or we can admit the truth, swallow the ego, and train our infantry to think and fight like the partisans who actually win against superior forces.

The choice is simple: adapt or bleed. The graves will keep count either way.

BRAGGING ABOUT NEVER CLEANING YOUR GUNS IS STUPID (AND DANGEROUS)

Bragging about never cleaning your gun is stupid and risky. Guns tolerate some neglect, but regular buildup in the bore, chamber, and gas system causes wear, reduced accuracy, and malfunctions. “Non-corrosive” ammo still leaves residues that attract moisture and cause corrosion. At minimum, keep the action and bore oiled to displace moisture and loosen carbon. Neglecting maintenance gambles with reliability—clean or at least lube your gun.

YOUTUBE GUN CHANNELS LIE, AND YOU BUY INTO IT

YOUTUBE GUN CHANNELS LIE, AND YOU BUY INTO IT

I run the Adaptive Combatives & Tactics YouTube channel at youtube.com/doitriteak, but that doesn’t stop me from being seriously frustrated with most gun YouTube content out there. In fact, that frustration is exactly why I started the channel. Before I ever hit “record,” I was just like you—scrolling reviews on the web and YouTube, hunting for straight answers on gear that actually matters for self-defense, EDC, home defense, and building real readiness. What I kept finding was a straight-up lie: clickbait titles, lazy 200-round tests, sponsored infomercials, zero talk of break-in periods or long-term wear, and reviewers who never dry-fire, never carry the gun, and never connect it to actual adaptive combatives and tactics. Pure chaos—just like the ammo panics I’ve lived through. That’s why I decided to do it right and fill the gaps with honest, no-fluff, real-world testing that treats you like a serious student of combatives, not just another consumer chasing the latest shiny object.

Navigating the "Trump Slump": Opportunities for Gun Owners and Preparedness Enthusiasts

The "Trump Slump" has returned, with gun sales dipping post-2024 election as pro-Second Amendment policies ease fears of restrictions. This market slowdown means better availability and prices for firearms, ammunition, and prep gear—perfect for stocking up without the chaos of past surges. Recall the Obama gun ban scares and COVID panic buying, where ammo in popular calibers like 9mm, 5.56, 7.62, and .45 ACP became scarce, leading to store limits and price gouging. Services like Ammo Squared offer a savvy way to invest in ammo reserves. Plus, with ATF reforms temporarily lifting hurdles on suppressors and Class 3 items, act now before these windows close. History shows: prepare in peace to thrive in turmoil.
